Seeds Wellness: Cultivating Whole Health

Psychotherapy

“I believe that we are born with a golden Buddha within us (you can see it in any baby you watch), but because of events and relationships in our lives, we begin to cover that golden Buddha with a layer of clay to protect it. We adopt certain beliefs from childhood that help us to make sense of our world and help us to feel safe. Unfortunately these beliefs may not serve us well later down the line.” -Denise Supik, LCPC

In the work of psychotherapy the therapist helps to create a safe environment to explore these beliefs, and with compassion and self-acceptance allow for other possibilities that may be more true for us. The psyche’s natural tendency is toward health and wholeness if allowed to evolve. And so the client leads and the therapist uses her tools to assist the client in her growth. Our therapist, Denise uses such tools as talk therapy, meditation, and sandtray work.

Denise draws a great deal from mindfulness meditation practice in trying to bring the qualities associated with that practice to the individual (acceptance. loving kindness, patience, non-judgement). She try to help her to understand what the “symptom” or distress may be trying to tell her.

What is Sandtray Therapy?
